This is the official website for the governing body of cricket in the Czech Republic, the Českomoravský Kriketový Svaz (ČMKS, or Czech Cricket).
Czech Cricket is governed by a 9-man committee elected at the 2011 AGM or co-opted since then. All positions are held until the 2013 AGM. More details can be found in the committee, minutes and constitution sections.
OUR VISION is to see cricket become a well-known sport in all regions of the country with annually-increasing player numbers and a full network of support infrastructure to keep the whole process sustainable.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT: The CMKS is in existence to promote the game of cricket to all ages and nationalities in the Czech Republic through the establishment of junior to senior national tournaments, development, training and competition from clubs to international level.
For 2012, our goals are to:
- add at least one new school to our work locally as we increase our presence in local schools
- establish at least two new youth clubs / teams for regular participation among local children
- identify new sites for indoor and outdoor practice facilities
- work with contacts outside Prague to establish bases for cricket in at least two other regions
- establish a marketing strategy which can provide sustainable income for the development of the game locally
- increase the number of games for the national team and the national development squad (Czech Eagles) from 2 to 4 each.
In order to achieve this, our plan is:
Develop Youth Cricket
- introduce a structured programme of introductory classes and follow-up sessions at five Prague schools
- establish at least two new youth clubs / teams. Provide support and coaching for youth cricketers who want to organise a club / team.
- supply introductory coaching courses for the school teachers involved
Secure facilities indoor and outdoor in Prague
- find one new possibility for an outdoor net facility in Prague
- By October 2012 have secured sufficient income through commercial activity to be used to buy or long term lease a dedicated indoor training facility allowing coaching and practice for all aspects of the game.
Expand knowledge & Raise the profile of the game in other areas of the Czech Republic
- To set out a defined programme of coaching, promotion, exhibition games, and tournaments in West Bohemia and Moravia
- Develop playing facilities in the named areas.
- Assist formation of at least two clubs outside Prague by summer 2013
Use effective commercial & marketing activity to create sustainable and renewable income within the organisation
- Offer financially attractive sponsorship packages for each of the league formats
- Secure formal long term sponsorship for the national team
- Assist each club to have a viable sponsorship arrangement
- Have a self financing media profile – through members magazine, national media channels, digital presence
- Have a defined programme of fund raising events – cricket dinners, social tournaments, corporate tournaments, co-operation with clubs in other countries e.g. UK
- Create revenue from Investment income
- Create income generation partnerships with Sports Tourism companies and Cricket Equipment Distributors
Stage leagues and tournaments which will provide good levels of competition and development in the sport on a national level
- Run a men's Winter League
- Run a competitive mens T20 League, and Pro40 league
- Encourage teams to arrange regular developmental friendlies for less-experienced (or more-relaxed!) cricketers who aren't as interested in participating in the competitive leagues
- Operate an annual junior tournament initially outdoor, with the subsequent introduction of an indoor winter league to run alongside the senior competition
- Operate at least one regional tournament each summer season
Organise two senior national representative teams to participate in international tournaments and friendly matches
- national team to play in ICC tournament in June 2012
- maximise national team games and exposure (media)
- Czech Eagles team to have at least four games, two at home and two trips
